Castle and Chester Beatty stay out
Dublin Castle’s entire campus is closed, including the Dame Street to Ship Street through route. Visitor return is expected in January 2027. Chester Beatty is closed through the end of December 2026. Choose a different central visit during this period.
Choose the current Trinity format
Choose the full Book of Kells Experience for the Old Library and Red Pavilion, or the shorter ticket for the Old Library only. Most Long Room books have been removed during redevelopment; choose the format for the visit available now.
An indoor plan still has constraints
For the National Gallery, choose between a free individual permanent-collection visit and a separately ticketed exhibition. Archaeology opens at 1pm on Sunday and Monday and has no large-bag storage. On a departure day, arrange luggage first and choose the afternoon only if it leaves room for your return journey.
10–13 November: allow for diversions
For 10–13 November 2026, allow flexibility around central bus and some Luas Red Line disruption. Check the operator notice for the journey you intend to make and reconsider a tightly connected airport or sightseeing plan.
Keep the centre flexible on 10–13 November
For a trip during the EU Presidency meetings, leave extra room between an airport journey and a timed visit. Check the dated TFI disruption notice for the restrictions affecting your day, then use your operator’s current service information to choose the stop and route. Central buses and some Luas Red Line services may be disrupted; a familiar stop on an older plan may need replacing.
Keep a National Gallery or Merrion Square plan flexible during this period. Check venue restrictions before heading across the centre, and avoid a second reservation that depends on a quick connection through a restricted area.
Replace closed stops with one worthwhile visit
Dublin Castle’s entire campus is closed, including the through route from Dame Street to Ship Street. Chester Beatty is also closed through the end of December 2026. Choose the National Gallery for art or Archaeology for material history, after checking the day’s opening arrangements. Archaeology opens at 1pm on Sunday and Monday, so it suits an afternoon block on those days.
Use the one-day route for a central cultural day, or the rain guide to keep an indoor alternative available. Replace a closed stop with a visit you want to make, and leave the rest of the day unhurried.
Planning notes
This plan is for a central Dublin short stay in November 2026, using public transport and one main visit per half-day. Protect any timed ticket and your airport departure before adding optional stops.
Keep in mind
The 10–13 November restrictions are date-specific. Check the current operator notice for your stop and direction; a normal route map may not reflect diversions. January 2027 Castle reopening remains an expectation, so check before planning a later visit.
